Last night on WWE's benchmark program, Monday Night Raw, the unthinkable occurred. Mike Mizanin, better known by his wrestling stagename "The Miz" became the WWE's United States champion. Now this isn't just me being pissed because I don't like him or something, it's more than that.
First of all, look who he is. Does the name possibly ring a bell? He was on MTV'S THE REAL WORLD, this guy is a tool and has no right to be anywhere near a wrestling ring, enough said.
In honor of the recent release of the Allied Powers: Greatest Tag Teams DVD I thought I'd put together a little list of some classic wrestling tag teams. This is certainly not a complete list, nor is it really in any order of importance. These are just some teams that were either influential, groundbreaking, or just plain entertaining to watch. Let's get started!
The Bushwhackers Luke and Butch, collectively known at The Bushwhackers were a sort of fake-Australian duo with some pretty wild and comedic antics. You of course can't forget the hilarious "Bushwhacker-walk" Check it out HERE
The Natural Disasters Who could forget these guys? Earthquake and Typhoon made up The Natural Disasters, basically two mean fat guys. Check em out HERE and HERE
The New Age Outlaws Oh you didn't know? Your ass better call somebodaaaay. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. D-Generation X proudly brings to you it's (former, soon-to-be...etc) WWF TAAAAAG TEEEEAAAAM CHAMPIIIOOOONS OF THE WOOOOOORLD. The Roaddog Jesse James, The Bad Ass Billy Gun, the NEW AGE OUTLAWS. Back in the late 90s during the "Raw is War" era of the WWF, these guys, along with the rest of the DX crew were part of some of the most entertaining and memorable gimmicks, feuds, and segments in the history of the WWF. Definitely one of my (many) personal favorites.
The Hardys (Hardy Boyz) As a tag team Matt and Jeff Hardy had some of the most innovative,exciting, and all around crazy tag-team matches ever. They took the use of tables and ladders to completely new heights. Additionally they have both gone on to have successful singles careers as well. Check out some clips of their matches HERE
The Headbangers
Next I give you....Mosh and Thrasher, collectively known as The Headbangers. These two guys were another tag team to come out of the Raw is War, late 90's era. Basically they were two "alternative" metalhead, headbanger (hence the name) fellows with some pretty damn cool tag team moves if i do say so myself. Apparatly they are ranked #2 on the list of 15 superstars who "overstayed" their welcomes in the WWF....i dunno, i thought they were pretty good. Check out a match with The Hardys HERE
The Rock `n' Sock Connection There's no way I could have left out this one. The union of two of the greatest superstars in WWF/WWE history, The Rock and Mick Foley (Mankind) as "The Rock and Sock Connection" was pure genius. The juxtaposition of their personas made for some very entertaining matches and interviews. Check out the union HERE.
The Dudleys (Team 3-D) Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley are to my knowledge the most decorated tag team in all of pro wrestling history. They have held every major tag team title from every federation, including: ECW, WWF/WWE, WCW, NWA, TNA, All Japan, HUSTLE and the New Japan World Tag Team Titles. If that isn't saying enough, they tend to have some pretty amazing Tables, TLC (Tables Ladders and Chairs, and Street Fight matches. Check out a tables match HERE

The Legion of Doom (The Road Warriors) Aaaaaaahhhhhh WHAT A RUSH !!! No tag team list can be made without mentioning the Leigion of Doom. With their patented facepaint and shoulder pads, Hawk and Animal were one of the most dominant tag teams in the history of wrestling. They paved the way for many superstars who followed and should always be recognized as one of the best tag teams to ever do it. Check out THIS six man tag match including the Road Warriors and the Ultimate Warrior verses another classic tag team/trio Demolition. (take notice of the hilarious promos at the beginning)
Short match with a nice Doomsday Device at the end, oh yeah and Sunny is bangin'. Check it out HERE
Sunday night in Philadelphia Mrs. Foley's baby boy won his fourth World Heavyweight Title at TNA's Pay Per View event Lockdown. I'm not much of a TNA fan (more partial to WWE) but when I heard that Mick Foley and Sting were in the main event, I had to attend. TNA has some classic guys on their roster including; Jeff Jarret (who actually started the TNA brand), Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner (both who are about 50+), Rhino,Kurt Angel, and Philly's own Dudley Boyz (known as 3D) to name a few. I figured it would be worth while because I grew up watching a lot of these guys.
The event as a whole was pretty entertaining and there were a some pretty good matches. The best overall match was absolutely 3D's Philly Street Fight match against the tag team Beer Money Inc. Also, for some reason, in the event's pre-show Danny Bonaduce wrestled in a match (yeah you know, this guy). Although, the highlight of the night for me was seeing Mick Foley finally win another World Title and getting to pat him on the back after his win. Sure he is old now and the match wasn't that fantastic but he has been one of my favorite wrestlers since I was a kid and I've loved all of his personas over the years (Cactus Jack, Mankind, Dude Love). It was just a really great moment that I will always remember. Thanks Mick.

Last night marked the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania and overall it was pretty decent but this Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels match was fantastic. It reminded me of the old school classic matches from back in the day. Here are two videos of part of this soon to be classic. Check em out!
This is a place for all things "entertainment", which is essentially all things me. Music, art, movies, TV, new technologies, "everything" and (maybe) anything involved with entertainment. I put the words "entertainment" and "everything" in parenthesis for the fact that firstly some things I may find entertaining other people may not and secondly there's no way I can really cover everything out there.
Some of my entries may seem completely random but I feel as though spontaneity and randomness should be a part of life. Nonetheless, I hope this brings you some kind of enjoyment, for that's the real reason behind this whole thing.
The exact origin of the name "Danny b Funk" is unknown but it was developed years ago due to my funky bass playing and all around "funky" nature (whatever that means).
My outlook and attitude towards life, as well as inspirations are influenced greatly by:
1960's hippie culture, sounds, noise and beats, Funk, the Grateful Dead, cartoons, Les Claypool, comic books, the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, professional wrestling, "the groove", Living in the country, rhymes, The Twilight Zone Dr. Seuss,improvisation, video games, standup and improv comedy, old school hip hop, DJs, Shel Silverstein, Drum Machines, Vinyl Discs, boat shoes, electricity, mythology, Eastern religion and philosophy, acoustic instruments, Mick Foley, jazz, awkwardness, music as a whole, antics, shenanigans and tomfoolery.
