Jay vs Conan

I'm sure by now most people have heard at least something about this whole NBC, Jay Leno, and Conan O'Brien thing going on. Basically, after a few months of Conan running "The Tonight Show" and Jay being moved down to 10:00 to host his own "Jay Leno Show", ratings for both shows have gone down. CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" is beating NBC's "Tonight Show" and NBC is looking to do a little rearranging.

According to the Chicago Tribune, one solution would be to move Jay's show to 10:35 (for half an hour) and move the Tonight Show down to 11:05. A separate article from the Associated Press mentioned that:

NBC's contract with O'Brien reportedly allows the network to move "Tonight" to 12:05 a.m. EST but no later, at the risk of substantial financial penalties.
, which could also provide Leno with another spot (possibly 11:05?).

Yet another possibility, mentioned in the same article, is that NBC does away with Conan altogether, moves Jay back to the "Tonight Show", and Conan possibly gets picked up by Fox.

All this talk about time changes and shows moving around may bring about another issue that hasn't been addressed (at least to my knowledge), What will happen to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon or even Last Call with Carson Daly? It seems like there hasn't been any mention of what would happen to the time slots for these shows. There won't be an issue unless the other shows get pushed back to later slots but if they do, who is going to stay up until 3am or later every night watching these shows?

I don't have a solution; it just looks like NBC is sort of screwing things up here. I will say this though, I'm a fan of almost all late night TV (although it hasn't been that great in a while), but I've always been a Leno guy myself. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

oh yeah. What's up Ludwig?
