Skinny Fif
Rapper/Actor(?...not really) 50 Cent lost a shit load of weight (went from 215 to 160) for his upcoming movie role in the film “Things Fall Apart” where he plays a football player diagnosed with cancer.
Wow!
I'll say one thing. If anybody has ever wanted to kick this guys ass, right now would be a very opportune time. :) Lookin all lanky and shit...alien lookin, like one of them South Park alien visitors.
(thanks dailyswarm)
Download Slightly Stoodpid's Acoustic Roots
That's right. Slightly Stoopid has put their live album "Acoustic Roots: Live and Direct" up on bandcamp for a free download. I'm not a fan of everything these guys have done but they have some "good stuff" and this album is certainly included in said"stuff". Real chill....bruh.
I think it's only available TODAY so go get it before it's too late!
Barber's Back!
Oh shit! The Barber is back! This is pretty funny.
Jon Gutwillig of the Disco Biscuits, who broke his wrist back in March, returns on May 29th!

The Black Keys: Brothers
Hey, it's The Black Keys, they are always good. The duo takes their signature distorted, muddy, shitkickin', blues rock for a run on this one folks. Pretty standard sounding for them, which in my opinion isn't exactly a bad thing. 15 tracks of all around greatness. It's one of those ALBUMS that you can put on and listen all the way through. Really good stuff here.
(remember BlakRoc?)
The Tallest Man on Earth: The Wild Hunt
Young Bob (Dylan that is) aka "The Tallest Man on Earth" is back with his second album entitled "The Wild Hunt". As I've said before, I don't care if he sounds like Bob Dylan, I like Bob Dylan, and I like him. Poetic, Folky, Real.
(Tallest Man Videos)
Eminem. People say he's the best rapper (although people say Lil Wayne is too) for a reason...because he is. I'm not going to get into a debate or anything, everybody's got an opinion. My opinion is that there are different types rap and different styles of rappers. I'll leave it at that. His "Recovery" album doesn't drop until June 22nd but this mixtape came out yesterday. It's got some pretty cool blends and mixes on it but the quality isn't all that great. Anyway, just wanted to bring this up on everyone's radar, JUNE 22nd (prolly will leak earlier though...)
(other Em related things)
Holy Fuck: Latin
I FUCKIN' (haha) love these guys. As I've said before, I enjoy the crazy-electro-punk-jam-tronic noise that they make. This album continues the tradition laid down in their other 2 albums (which are great) but has a tighter, structured feel to it. I'm not sure if it has as much initial excitement and energy as it's predecessors, but it still grooves, and gets pretty wild once you get into the middle and end of the album.
All right, that's enough for now.
Oh and I must thank the music snobs over at Pitchfork for being so on top of things. I wouldn't have even known most of these albums dropped if it wasn't for them.
Okay, go listen to music .

Jamie XX Mix for Colette

This is all over the blogs already but I though it was a pretty nice mix and since I've been really into dubstep and electro/dance/whatevertheykeepfuckingmakingupwordstocallthis music more and more lately I figured I'd put it up.
The XX's beatmaker, Jamie XX put this electrowoobly, dubstep, all around pretty dirty mix together for some fancy schmancy French boutique store, Colette. I mean, you could get these sweet shorts for only 365.00 euro....but that's besides the point.
The mix (in my opinion) is really good. If you aren't really into British rapper The Streets, just skip that part beginning part, put on a pair of headphones, and dance around (and make sure you don't trip over the wires). Or you could just cool out and listen to it with some speakers.
To Each His Own.

RIP Dio
Just a few days ago, heavy metal icon Ronnie James Dio passed away. I can't say much about the man but I know how influential he was to the genre.
He's best known for his wailing "vocal style and attachment to demonic imagery" as lead singer for such bands as Rainbow, Black Sabbath (after Ozzy), and his own Dio. The guy is a heavy metal rock icon and after listening to a few of his tunes, and really not being a big metal fan at all, I must say he is a badass and his music is pretty awesome.
Rest in Peace Mr. Dio, you shall be missed.
Check out this writeup from Daily Swarm
Man on the Silver Mountain
Tenacious D (with a little Dio cameo)
Rock and Roll Children
Holy Diver (cover)
Strange story about this one. Last week I was driving back from Philadelphia with my brother. He's a big metal fan and I knew he liked Killswitch Engage. He put this song on, which was originally written by Dio and I thought it was pretty amazing. Little did I know that just a few days later Ronnie would pass away. Weird
The Mob Rules (look at the demon in the tree on stage)
FUBU
Remember the 90s (into 00s) classic apparel? Man I even had (still have) a FUBU sweat suit, haha oh man. Well according to WooHa, the FUBU Legacy is making a come back. Pretty weird, I drew this before I knew about it.
Anyway, the video is pretty cool and the guys who started FUBU were pretty inspirational. Check it out

AHHHHHHH!!!!
One of my favorite bands ever, PRIMUS, will be on tour this Summer into the Fall. Their first tour in 4 years.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!
Joining the band will be original Primus drummer (I mean super original), Jay Lane, who recently stepped down from drumming duties for the latest Grateful Dead reincarnation, Furthur.
Also it seems that the band is working on some new material, which will be Primus's first new album since 2004(?)'s "Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People".
Can't wait to hear it and I HOPE they add some more East coast dates. Untill then, enjoy some Les Claypool projects over the years.

Not really a fan of their new album but check out the Bisco interview on NPR's World Cafe
Pretty neato I spose': Check it out HERE.
Also the Bisco Power Mission seems like a great idea and I'm glad the band and Brownstein's HeadCount are supporting alternative energy.
