Pretty Lights: Making Up A Changing Mind

http://www.prettylightsmusic.com/mailer/muacm.jpg

Pretty Lights' first EP in the trilogy to be released in 2010, "Making Up A Changing Mind", is out NOW. Go download it free (along with the rest of his albums) right HERE

(From his e-mail list)

Making Up A Changing Mind is a collection of six tracks, produced in January and February of 2010. Stylistically I fuse hip-hop production with elements of electro & dubstep, and combine that with the organic timbres and raw feeling of old school soul & funk, to, hopefully channel a number of feelings that pertain to the concept of the EP... In more than one way, this EP is a reflection of the massive changes I'm going through in my life and recent decisions I've had to make regarding my relationships, my career, and my music. From the lyrics of the vocal samples, to the fusion of production styles, even to the model and timeframe in which this EP is being released... this album speaks to the importance of adapting in a changing and surprising world. All will change with time... the future none can see. In the reconciliation of seemingly opposing options (making up a changing mind) we can hope to find new perspectives and better ways to move forward. ~Derek Vincent Smith

December 12th Infamous Stringdusters @ The TLA (Free Download)

I somehow failed to mention the band who opened for Railroad Earth when I saw them. A serious bluegrass string band, The Infamous Stringdusters. If you are a fan of bluegrass check these guys out. I was thoroughly impressed.

Here's a copy of their opening performance. Thanks again to Jamie Burks.

December 12th Railroad Earth @ The TLA (Free Download)

Back on December 12th I had the pleasure of finally seeing the band Railroad Earth live. I found a recording of the show so now I can relive it over again.

I'd like to thank Jamie Burks for taping the show.

Give it a listen.

Louie and Miles RE-mixed

The Apple Juice Kid has combined two of my very most favorite things, JAZZ and BEATS. In these two remix projects he has reworked some Miles Davis and Louie Armstrong classics. Some very cool, chill-out type stuff. Check it out.

Free Holidaze Joints from Slightly Stoopid

Aw how nice.

From now until Christmas Eve Slightly Stoopid is offering a nice little free album download. Hell, it's free...why not? Do it to it right HERE.

Get them "joints" before they...burn out. (sorry I had to)

Kid Cudi and Vampire Weekend?

There's a new Kid Cudi freestyle out where he raps over Vampire Weekend's track "Ottoman". Shits nice if you ask me.

Check it out HERE. Cudderisback. Short and sweet.

Phish Festival 8

Starting today, October 30th, through November 1st is Phish's Festival 8 !!!!!

I'm personally excited to see which full album cover they will be performing on Halloween night. As of right now, on the Halloween Set page of the festival, the only albums left "alive" are: Jimi Hendri's Electric Ladyland, Genesis' The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Prince's Purple Rain, King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Rolling Stones Exile on Main St, Radiohead Kid A, Micheal Jackson's Thriller, David Bowie's Hunky Dory, and MGMT's Oracular Spectacular.

I don't know if everybody is all MJ'ed out but my money is on Thriller.

Anyway, the Phish Coventry Blog posted the boys' soundcheck earlier today. I haven't listened to it yet but I think it's actually a soundboard recording which is pretty awesome. Here's the unofficial setlist:

Festival 8 Soundcheck Jam
Undermind>
Devil with a Blue Dress>
Gloria
Starship Trooper
Gone
Fuck Your Face Tease
MGMT Kids Tease
Liquid Time
