Norton Buffalo: September 28th, 1951- October 30th, 2009

Just this past Friday, harmonica virtuoso Norton Buffalo passed away. Although he has played on over 180 different albums with the likes of artists such as: The Doobie Brothers,Merl Saunders' Rainforest Band,Kenny Loggins, The Jerry Garcia Band, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, and David Grisman, Buffalo was best known as a member of The Steve Miller Band for over 32 years!!! He was a beloved and sought after session musician. Steve Miller was quoted as saying the following regarding Buffalo:

“He was a complete original. He worked with all kinds of people. He did tons and tons of projects. Everybody who worked with him loved him, really enjoyed working with him.”

“He had way more music in him than I could use"

I actually had the pleasure of seeing him perform with the Steve Miller band about two years ago and he was really a great player and brought a huge amount of energy to the stage. I could tell he was having a blast being up on stage. It's really a shame he has passed. Rest in Peace Mr. Buffalo, you will be missed.
