What Is The Future Of The Music Industry?

Guess What ?

Nobody Knows !

Sure statistics might look grim, as fewer and fewer consumers are purchasing music these days. But, as my man Bobby D said, "The Times They Are A-Changin". It seems as though the industry has shifted and to be completely honest, this guy (yeah that's me!) couldn’t be more excited.

"Why is that?" you ask? Well, let me lay it out for you.

Simply put, I think this is an extremely exciting time for music and entertainment as a whole. It might be a little scary for those running the industry, but things couldn’t be better for music fans. (well, some can argue about crappy music being made...but that rant is for another time. To avoid making that mistake, check THIS out).

I look at it this way.

Certainly it's true that companies, labels, ect are loosing money, but things are changing and adaptations need to be made. Nearly everything is in flux and as much as they might pretend they know, not many people really know what is going on. Even more so, nobody knows what is going to happen. This makes it all the better for the young blood coming into the industry.

With the rise of the independent music scene, which includes the DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to production, marketing, and promotions, nearly all aspects involved in the industry need to adapt (to these and all other changes) or they will be left in the dust. I feel the industry needs new and fresh ideas (and people!) to continue to help move it into the future. What better time than now to be a part of all these changes?

Not knowing what is going to happen makes this industry all the more exciting. I truly believe that over the next few years music history will be made and I can not wait to be a part of it.

Although those currently in the industry may be weary of the future, I say bring it on!! I want a piece of the action.
